John Carter is President & Chief Executive Officer of Carter Brothers, L.L.C., an electronic security project management firm specializing in closed circuit television, access control, burglar alarm and fire and life safety projects and services for commercial and national accounts. Under John’s visionary leadership, Carter Brothers saw revenues of $45 million in 2005 and has been recognized as one of the fastest growing companies within the security industry.

As CEO, John executes the corporate vision, drives for strategic growth and leads the day-to-day operations of the company while ensuring the satisfaction of the customers and business partners.

John has more than 20 years of experience as a marketing, sales and promotional professional. As Vice President of the Southeast Region for Barton Malow Construction prior to establishing Carter Brothers, John supervised a team charged with brand building and awareness, business reputation enhancement, marketing policies and procedures, client services, and business development.

His 1999, appointment as Vice President was among the first for an African American in the construction industry. Along with his responsibilities as Officer-in-Charge, John focused on strategic planning, business development, contract negotiations and client satisfaction. Prior to his unprecedented appointment as Vice President, he was instrumental in acquiring $4.5 billion worth of construction projects, including; Olympic Stadium/Turner Field, Phillips Stadium, Enron Field, and Paul Brown Stadium. John forged key relationships with clients such as the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Bears, and the New England Patriots.

In 2001, he founded Carter Brothers in Atlanta, Georgia, with his brother Cris, former NFL wider receiver. Carter Brothers has achieved notable success in the first five years of business by bringing innovation to the industry through delivery of project management in the design, installation and maintenance of electronic security systems on a national level.

Today, Carter Brothers business’ ranges from full-service security management for clients such as BP, Frito-Lay, General Electric and Stand Register to national program and project management of security installations for commercial accounts.

The company, with 100 employees, estimates 2006 managed revenue of more than $100 million.
In 2006, Carter Brothers was recognized for a second year by Diversitybusiness.com and named to their award listings for diverse-owned businesses including: Top Diverse Business and Small Business in the USA and Top African American owned Business in the USA. And this year, Carter Brothers was featured in Fortune’s Top 500 list and Black Enterprise magazine’s Top 100 issue.

Committed to doing good works in the community, John and his brothers founded Carter Brothers Charities, a 501 C(3) nonprofit organization intended to support an array of charitable organizations impacting domestic violence, youth outreach and community development. John also devotes time to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Carter White Charities, Urban League, and the YMCA.

John currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the YMCA, Cris Carter Foundation, Hampton University Sports Advisory and the National Minority Supplier Development Council.

John attended West Liberty State College and the Advanced Management Education Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.
